The Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) on Saturday alleged that a union minister’s son-in-law paid the hotel bills of 11 BJP rebel MLAs and five independents. All these rebel leaders along with JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy stayed at the Sheraton Hotel in Chennai before the vote of confidence on October 11.
Releasing copies of the bill, purportedly cleared by businessman VG Siddarth, state unit BJP president KS Eshwarappa told a press conference that this indicated the role of the Congress behind the rebellion launched by MLAs against the government. He, however, refused to name the union minister.
It can be noted here that Siddarth is the son-in-law of the union minister for external affairs SM Krishna and also the man behind Cafe Coffee Day.
