SRINAGAR, July 12(NAK): Paying rich tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in fighting the autocratic rule on July 13, 1931, CPI (M) today asserted on the Central Government to respond to the political aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued here today, CPI (M) State Secretary Mohammad Yusuf Tarigami said that “July 13” provides an opportunity for both the Central Government and the people of the State to go for self introspection vis-à-vis their role in resolving the vexed Kashmir issue. He said that the day signifies the commencement of an era which should be commemorated as the struggle of the people for restoring their special identity. Tarigami said the struggle ultimately fructified and helped the suppressed people of the state to live with dignity, self respect and honour. He said that rich tributes must be paid to the martyrs who offered supreme sacrifices for they have created a new history for the people of the State. “The day laid the foundation for a new beginning and a cause to unify people rising above the narrow considerations for larger interests of the public,” he observed.
