While Kumble & Co are promising to bring the focus back on sport by reviving grassroots cricket and the seven-decade-old club culture, Wodeyar, already a one-term KSCA president, insists great cricketers don’t necessarily make good administrators. He has promised the 1429 voters — 229 members representing clubs and 1200 life members — to make the KSCA more democratic and even bring it under the RTI. The intensity was evident from the fact that Rahul Dravid used a day’s break after the Hyderabad Test to come and campaign for his former mates. “(They) bring a huge amount of experience, not just about cricket but the way it’s run around the world,” says Dravid.
