Kodandaram may take political plunge - Times of India

HYDERABAD: Telangana political JAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram is likely to join politics and seek election to the state legislative council in 2011 from teacher's constituency in Ranga Reddy district. The possibility of his joining TRS is also not ruled out.

This issue figured at a recent meeting of the JAC where many leaders expressed the view that Kodandaram should enter mainstream politics. A senior JAC leader told TOI that majority of the leaders were of the view that Kodandaram had the right qualities to become a political leader. The JAC chairman, hailing from the Reddy community, proved his political acumen by strengthening the Telangana movement under political JAC, they said.

The sources said that though Kondandaram initially brushed aside the idea, relented later and appears to be inclined in that direction. One of the proposals made to Kodandaram was that he should join TRS while retaining his position as JAC chairman. However, a final decision would be taken after the Srikrishna Committee submitted its report to the Centre on the Telangana issue on December 31.
