In an apparent dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, BSP head and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati said on Sunday politics did not come to her as an inheritance. Instead, she had to work hard to create a niche for herself, she added. Addressing her party workers in Bhopal, she said those “consp iring” to sabotage the BSP’s movement for an egalitarian society would get a befitting reply.
Tracing the history of her party from 1984, when it was founded by Kanshiram, she said attempts at scuttling the movement (of the Dalits) had begun since then, but after the party emerged as a political power in the most populous state, Uttar Pradesh, conspiracies against her and the BSP gained strength.
