Last time when I had written about Kashmir, I had said that though the situation is out of control, it is pointless to blame either politicians, state or the Centre.

I am afraid this time around I have to modify my observation because I can sense the villain: not politicians but one political party: the BJP who is all out to destroy whatever semblance of peace the simmering valley has. I will ofcourse not go into history like some of my colleagues have done, but yes I will certainly say that the BJP is needlessly stoking the fire by attempting the tiranga- yatra.

Ofcourse the government—both the centre and state—will ensure that the BJP does not succeed in its game plan and the way things seemed at the time of writing, chances are they will not. Sensing the volatile situation that may erupt were the leaders allowed to reach Lal Chowk, the BJP flagbearers must have secretly heaved a sigh of relief that the state government thwarted their attempts: Sushma Swaraj and company were arrested in Jammu and packed off to Punjab. Earlier a train carrying BJP workers was diverted and not allowed to enter the trouble torn state.
