I disagree with FLORIDA TODAY’s editorial Saturday, “The flood gates open,” that the recent Supreme Court decision allowing corporations to spend unlimited amounts of cash on candidates will make things worse.
Too many negative ads were on TV during the last election. The current system allowed Barack Obama to turn down the public funding promise he made to John McCain because he had so much money flowing in from many sources, including unions and progressive big-money interests. This decision levels the playing field. One shouldn’t depend on political ads to tell the truth. There are many other ways to find out about a candidate. Listen to them, get their platform and look at their supporters.
