The news sent Apple stock up more than 4 percent on a down day for much of the market. But Jobs did not say whether the problem was related to the cancer, and some analysts said the health watch may not be over.

Steve Wozniak in 1976 at the dawn of the personal computer revolution, left in 1985 and returned as CEO in 1997, slashing unprofitable product lines and helping rescue the company from financial ruin. Jobs announced in 2004 that he had undergone successful surgery to treat a very rare form of pancreatic cancer — an islet cell neuroendocrine tumor. The cancer is easily cured if diagnosed early. Jobs did not have a deadlier and more common form of pancreatic cancer called adenocarcinoma.

Autopsy completed on Travolta's son (AP)

Bahamian Minister of Health Hubert Minnis said the autopsy was finished but declined to comment on what may have caused the death of Jett Travolta , who had a history of seizures and was found unconscious in a bathroom Friday at a family vacation home.

Jett's body was expected to be transferred soon to Grand Bahama's Restview Memorial Mortuary, said Glen Campbell , an assistant funeral director . The family plans to send his remains by Wednesday to Ocala, Florida , where the actor owns a home, said Obie Wilchcombe , a family friend and member of the Bahamian parliament.

SYDNEY (AFP) – Saving the planet by eating kangaroos and wild camels may seem like pie in the sky, but the offbeat menu comes with a scientific stamp of approval in Australia .

The aim in both cases is to reduce damage to the environment, but the reasoning behind the push to put the animals on the menu is sharply different. In the case of kangaroos, environmentalists say the national animal should become a dietary staple in place of cattle and sheep as part of the fight against global warming .

An autopsy expected to be performed Monday in the Bahamas could reveal what caused the death of Jett Travolta, the 16-year-old son of John Travolta and Kelly Preston who was found collapsed in a bathroom at the family's vacation home on Friday. The teen had a seizure and hit his head on a bathtub, the Associated Press reported. Hubert Minnis, Bahamian health minister, says two pathologists will be used for the autopsy. A U.S.-certified clinical and forensic pathologist from Nassau will arrive in Grand Bahama on Monday to help perform the procedure; a cause of death could be known by the end of the day, Minnis told the Associated Press.

Wikipedia meets $6 million fundraising goal (AP)

SAN FRANCISCO - The nonprofit foundation that runs Wikipedia , the popular online encyclopedia of user-contributed articles, said Friday it has met its $6 million fundraising goal for fiscal 2008.

With about six months left in this year's campaign, the Wikimedia Foundation said it has raised $6.2 million. A flood of donations came in after the site's founder, Jimmy Wales , posted an appeal for support in late December. The foundation said about 50,000 contributors chipped in a total of $2 million in the space of eight days, bringing the total number of donors to more than 125,000.

Peters bought two Connecticut Lottery tickets at a local 7-Eleven store on Nov. 1 as part of a 20-year tradition he shared with his wife Charlotte. Later that day, the 79-year-old retired hat factory worker suffered a fatal heart attack while working in his yard in Danbury. On Friday, his widow cashed in one of the tickets: a $10 million winner which, in her grief over her husband's death, she had put aside and almost discarded before recently checking the numbers.

To subsidize the converter boxes , most of which cost between $40 and $80, the government has been letting consumers request up to two $40 coupons per home. But any day now, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), the arm of the Commerce Department in charge of administering the coupon program, expects to hit a $1.34 billion funding ceiling set by Congress. Now the NTIA is warning that unless lawmakers step in quickly with more funding or new accounting rules, it will have to create a waiting list for coupon requests. That would mean it could send out additional coupons only as unredeemed ones expire, freeing up more money for the program.

WASHINGTON – Motorists are driving less and buying less gasoline, which means fuel taxes aren't raising enough money to keep pace with the cost of road, bridge and transit programs.

A federal commission created by Congress to find a way to make up the growing revenue shortfall in the program that funds highway repairs and construction is talking about increasing federal gas and diesel taxes. A roughly 50 percent increase in gasoline and diesel fuel taxes is being urged by the commission until the government devises another way for motorists to pay for using public roads .

It follows with this note: UPDATE - I haven't been able to get it to work on two iPhone 3Gs, both with fresh 2.2 firmware and baseband. I've heard plenty of people HAVE had luck, however, so it seems to be an either/or thing. I suspect some cells aren't accepting the iPhones as valid equipment. has embraced the damn beta culture just to make the release on a cute date. It looks like the old days of solid versions are long gone by.

PALM BEACH, Fla. – Thieves calling themselves "The Educators" have returned a statue stolen from disgraced investment guru Bernie Madoff. And they hope he's learned his lesson.

The Palm Beach Post reports that the $10,000 copper sculpture turned up Wednesday near the country club Madoff (MAY'-dawf) belonged to. A note attached read: "Bernie the Swindler, Lesson: Return stolen property to rightful owners. Signed by — The Educators." The statue was reported missing Dec. 22, about a week after the Wall Street money manager was arrested on charges he bilked investors out of more than $50 billion. His clients included major banks, charities and retirees.
